Dear
Families,
It
was great to see so many of you at our New Family Coffee/Tour,
Back-to-School night and Parent Visiting Days. Our
students are engaged in the learning process as well as a
wide range of extra-curricular activities. As they
work with our talented faculty our students have
many opportunities to shine. We hope that you'll check
out our sports teams or upcoming theatre productions.
Looking forward to seeing you around the
school. |

Professional
Development Early Release Day on Wenesday, October 29th
The second
of six professional development days planned for this
year will take place on Wednesday, October 29th.
Students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m., and lunch will be
served. There will be no activities for students after 11:30
a.m. During this year's worshop series teachers will be
working on creating opportunities for making connections
across the disciplines and developing interdisciplinary
lessons and units. We believe that this focus on
integrating skills and knowledge will be beneficial to all
students.

The
Newton Public Health Department is piloting a FluMist program
that will allow students to be vaccinated against the
flu. Students will be immunized on Wednesday, November
19th. You should have received a letter inviting you to
participate in this clinic. The deadline for returning
consent forms is October 22nd. If you have questions
regarding this program, please call Gayle Larson, our school
nurse, at
617-559-9140. |

6th Grade Fall
Community Event
We
hope that you'll be able to make it to our 6th Grade Fall
Community Event on Wednesday, October 22nd from 7-8:30 in the
gymnasium. This is an opportunity for 6th graders and
their parents/guardians to socialize. There will be
a DJ, games, and fall-themed activities. We hope that

Macbeth opens on
October 23rd
What
better way to herald the Holloween season than to see our
home-grown production of Shakespeare's, Macbeth. Our
7th and 8th grade actors will perform on Thursday, October
23rd and Friday, October 24th. Tickets are available
through cast members and from drama teacher, Jessica
McGettrick. While this is a tasteful, age-appropriate
production for middle schoolers, it may not be
appropriate for very young
children. |
Thank
you for your continued
support.
